The Rhode Island State Police are attempting to identify a male suspect who obtained money under false pretenses and conducted Bank Fraud through a manufactured false identification.
During business hours on Monday, May 20, 2024, the unidentified male suspect entered the Bank Rhode Island branch on Taunton Avenue in the City of East Providence.
The suspect identified himself using a falsified Rhode Island Drivers License of the victim that had the correct name, date of birth, address and license number. The suspect engaged in conversation and ‘small talk’ with the teller. As the victim possessed multiple accounts within the bank, the teller asked the suspect which account he wished to withdraw from. The suspect was able to provide the last four numbers of one of the accounts without being given options to chose from.
During the interaction, the suspect wore a black earpiece, which appears to be a Bluetooth device. The suspect was wearing a plaid button-up shirt, a baseball style hat. The suspect appears to be a male who appears to be either Hispanic, or a light skinned black male, with a white goatee, approximately 50-60 years of age. Additionally, the suspect exited the branch on foot.
