The Providence Police Department is attempting to identify two male suspects involved in the destruction of public property during a riotous protest over the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis.
On Monday, June 1, 2020, at about 11:49 PM, several unruly individuals in the protest began rioting on Francis St in front of the Providence Place Mall. During this time, the suspects were captured on social media video setting fire to a marked Providence Police unit while others acted disorderly.
CAPTURED:
This investigation resulted in the coordinated efforts between several law enforcement agencies to include the Providence Police, FBI-JTTF, and Rhode Island State Police. As a result of the rioting, over 60 arrests were made. Two suspects were arrested for their involvement in the burning of the Providence Police unit. Both suspects were charged federally by the United States Attorney's Office.
