The Cranston Police Department is attempting to identify a male suspect involved in the theft of over $2000.00 worth of auto parts from Park Ave Auto Services in Cranston, R.I.
On Sunday afternoon, 4/7/19, a male suspect pulled behind the business and stole an engine, radiator, transmission, and exhaust system and loaded it into the rear of a pickup truck that did not have any registration plates. The vehicle is described as an older model maroon colored F-150 extended cab pickup truck.
The suspect is described as an older white male with light gray scruffy goatee, wearing a green shirt, black pants, and a baseball cap worn backwards.
This suspect may be involved in similar thefts in other communities.
IDENTIFIED:
On 4/19/19, the Cranston Police Department identified the suspect in this case as:
JAMES R. GRASSI (53), with last known address in Providence. He also had previous addresses in Woonsocket, RI and Holliston, MA. Additional security video obtained revealed that the suspect had a plate on the vehicle at one point, Comm 38856, which does not come back to the suspect.
CAPTURED:
On 4/24/19, the suspect in this case, JAMES R. GRASSI, was captured by Providence PD near R.I. Hospital. He was taken into custody and turned over to Cranston PD.
