The Westerly Police Department is attempting to identify a male suspect who stole a high priced diamond engagement ring from The Westerly Jewelry Company on High St., Westerly, RI.
On Friday, 9/16/2016, at approximately 2:00 PM, a white male suspect entered store and asked for a specific clerk. The suspect identified himself as a doctor who wanted to look at engagement rings. The clerk brought the subject to the display case and proceeded to show several engagement rings to the suspect, who then distracted the clerk. The suspect then cupped the diamond ring and case in his hand and brought it down by his side, concealing the merchandise.
After several minutes the subject walks out of the store, making no attempt to pay form the ring.
The suspect is described as being in his mid to late 50's having light hair parted to the side. He was wearing plaid shorts, dark loafer type shoes, a light blue button up shirt with sunglasses hanging. The suspect left in a white compact vehicle.

ROBERT PETRINO (59) of South Boston, MA.
