The Warwick Police Department is attempting to identify a male suspect who robbed the Citizens Bank (Hoxsie) branch, 10 West Shore Rd., Warwick, R.I.

On Monday, 11/27/17 at approximately 1:15 PM a white male robbed the bank and fled in an unknown direction. No weapon was shown and it is currently unknown if the suspect had a vehicle. An undetermined amount of cash was taken.

The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 40- 55 years of age, 5’5” to 5’8” tall, stocky build, with gray unshaven facial hair and dark brown eyes.

On 12/4/17, the Warwick Police reported that the suspect in this case has been captured. He is identified as:

JOSEPH AMATEL (53) with a last known address in Cranston, R.I.

AMATEL is also a probation violator (robbery) and will be held at the ACI.
