The Westerly Police Department is attempting to identify a suspect involved in credit card theft and fraud that occurred at Walmart in their town.
On Sunday, 5/19/19, the victim reported their wallet stolen at either Michael's or Home Goods in Westerly, which the victim was unaware of at the time.
The next day, several purchases were made using the victim's American Express card and Bank of America card in various locations. Three of those charges were made at the Westerly Walmart totaling $2,253.16 in purchases.
Additional fraudulent charges were made in Lisbon, CT. at Game Stop ($636.98) and Target ($400.00). The suspect then attempted to make a transaction in Lowell, MA but was unsuccessful.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic male with dark hair wearing a tan colored jacket. He appears to be in his 20's and is of a heavier build.
These suspects may be involved in similar incidents in RI, CT., and MA.
