The Smithfield Police Department is attempting to identify a suspect or suspects involved in several shoplifting incidents in the area.

On Friday, February 15, 2019 at approximately 1:42pm, The male suspect wearing the Boston Bruins winter hat selected 2 Dyson Vacuum Cleaners and left the store without making any attempts to pay for them. The suspect got into what appears to be a dark color Ford Explorer Sport Trac that was waiting for him.

On Monday, February 18, 2019, at approximately 1:09pm, The male suspect in the attached photos stole two (2) vacuum cleaners from Kohl's Department Store in Smithfield. The suspect then got into a dark color Ford Explorer Sport Trac and fled the area. It appears to be the same vehicle from Friday 2/15/19.

On 3/5/19, the Smithfield Police Department reported that they have identified suspect #1 as:

DANIEL LEVASSEUR (38) from Pawtucket, RI

SUSPECT 2 CAPTURED:

On 2/27/19, the Smithfield Police Department reported that they have identified suspect #2 as:

DEREK LEBLANC (29) from Johnston and Warwick, RI

Both suspects were arrested by the Warwick Police Department on 3/14/2019.
