The Westerly Police Department is attempting to identify a male suspect involved in larceny or "Flim Flam" from the Webster Bank in Westerly, R.I.
On Friday, 11/4/2016 at approximately 3:30 PM, a male suspect entered the Webster Bank, 50 Franklin St., and presented the teller with $2,600 in $100 dollar bills and asked for it to be changed into $50 dollar bills. The teller counted the 50's in front of him, dividing it into two groups of $1,000 each and one group of $600. The male suspect picked up the money from the counter and then asked for it to be converted into Candian currency. The teller states they are unable to do that at the bank and directs the male to a Bank of America.
At that point, the male suspect asks for directions. While the teller turns and gives him the directions, the suspect takes a bundle of $1,000 and conceals it. The male then asks for his hundreds back as he needs to convert it into Candian curreny . The teller hands him back the original $2,600 in 100's, takes back the 50's, but does not count them. The male then leaves the bank with his original $2,600 and an additional $1,000 in 50's.
The white male is described having short, dark hair (military cut), a dark beard (chinstrap type), and also wearing a red "Camp David" brand jacket. The male identified himself as "Carlos" and stated he was a customer of Webster Bank.
