The Cranston Police Department is actively investigating a bank robbery which occurred at Webster Bank located at 1215 Park Avenue, Cranston, R.I.
On Tuesday, 11/15/16 at approximately 12:35 PM, A white male suspect entered the bank wearing a black jacket with a hood, a white scarf covering the lower portion of his face and white gloves and handed a note to a bank teller indicating she would be shot if she did not empty the cash draw.
After receiving an undetermined amount of cash, the suspect fled on foot.
This same suspect was seen in the lobby of Bank RI, 1047 Park Avenue 20 minutes earlier with no scarf covering his face. The suspect is described as 25-40 years of age 5'7" to 6'0".
NOTE: On Wednesday, 1/20/2016, at 12:38 PM, this same suspect committed a similar bank robbery at the Bank RI, 1047 Park Ave., Cranston, R.I. Refer to RI Most Wanted Case # 160012.
CAPTURED:
The Cranston Police Department report the capture of the suspect in this case. He is identified as:
NICHOLAS LOVERDI (24) of Providence, R.I.
LOVERDI was captured at a residence in Providence and was charged with 2 counts of 2nd degree robbery. He was charged in this case along with a previous bank robbery at the Bank RI in Cranston on 1/20/2016. Loverdi is being held at the ACI.
