The Woonsocket Police Department is attempting to identify a male suspect who committed a bank robbery and an attempted bank robbery at two separate banks in Woonsocket, RI.
On Friday, 12/2/2016, at 12:44 PM, the suspect attempted to rob the Citizens Bank on Cumberland St. The suspect entered the bank, presented a note, and the teller refused to give the suspect any money. The suspect left without incident.
Several minutes later, at 12:55 PM, the suspect entered the Bank of America on John Cummings Way and presented a noted. The teller gave the suspect an undetermined amount of cash. The suspect fled the bank.
It should be noted that the suspect changed his clothes between the attempted robbery at Citizens and the robbery at Bank of America.
CAPTURED:
The Woonsocket Police Department reported the capture of STEPHEN SILVA (45) on 12/10/16. SILVA was arrested after being identified for robbing the Mascoma Savings Bank in Hartland, Vermont.
SILVA, from Springfield, MA., was taken into custody at an unknown location and has now been implicated in 18 other bank robberies on the east coast, including a bank robbery in Westerly, RI (see RIMW #160130)
